Sarah Nogueira Sanca, portfolio leader and managing project director in the International Development Division (IDD), has over 25 years of international and youth development experience, including teaching, teacher training, youth livelihoods and leadership, alternative and accelerated education, and national youth service program management.

As a portfolio leader, she oversees and supports youth, education, and health programs in Lebanon, Liberia, the Philippines, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, and Djibouti, focusing on project management, operational efficiencies, new business development, and access to technical expertise while supporting a transitional presence in Ethiopia. As a managing project director, she provides technical assistance and project management for IDD’s largest education, youth development, and OVC (orphans and vulnerable children) program in Uganda.

Previously, Nogueira Sanca worked at the AmeriCorps program City Year as a project director, fundraiser, and director of international operations, supporting its expansion to Johannesburg and London. She began her career teaching in Cape Verde and Guinea-Bissau.

Nogueira Sanca has a BA in English and Theology from Boston College and is fluent in Cape Verdean/Guinean Portuguese Creole.
