Jana Boocock, senior prevention specialist, is an experienced trainer with expertise in behavioral health and wellness, suicide prevention, and substance misuse prevention. In addition to her experience managing state- and community-led prevention initiatives, she has directly supported youth and adults experiencing behavioral health issues within the community.

Boocock is a key member of EDC’s Suicide Prevention Resource Center (SPRC) team. SPRC is the nation’s only federally supported resource center devoted to advancing the National Strategy for Suicide Prevention. For the SPRC, Boocock collaborates with colleagues to provide training and technical assistance and contributes to the success of an array of state and community initiatives focused on suicide prevention.

Previous to EDC, Boocock served as the prevention program manager for South Dakota’s Department of Social Services, Division of Behavioral Health. In this capacity, she managed the implementation of suicide and substance misuse prevention programming in South Dakota communities and served on the Behavioral Health Crisis Response Stakeholder Coalition.

Boocock holds an MSW from Arizona State University and is a Certified Addiction Counselor and Certified Prevention Specialist.
