Helen Boyle



Helen N. Boyle, EDC vice president and director of program strategy for the International Development Division, has over 25 years of experience as a senior technical advisor on international education and development projects focused on teacher training, early grade reading and literacy, and program monitoring and evaluation. She has held numerous EDC positions, including project director, center director, and senior literacy advisor.

Previously, Helen was an associate professor at Florida State University, where she taught graduate courses, including Design & Management of International Development Education Projects and International Development Education, with a joint appointment in the Learning Systems Institute and the College of Education.

Helen authored the book Quranic Schools: Agents of Preservation and Change and has published several book chapters and peer-reviewed journal articles on Islamic education and development, teacher preparation, and early grade literacy.

Helen holds a BA in English Literature and French Language from Boston College, an EdM in International Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and a PhD in Comparative and Social Analysis In Education from the University of Pittsburgh.
