I wish I had stayed on after the Institute. I was fired up about American
history and didn't have time to investigate the museums. (Many are not
open at night.) Be sure to go to the Hirschhorn Sculture Garden. It's open
all the time.

With a trusty walking guide book some of us explored Du Pont Circle,
trying to identify embassies by their flags. Will never forget some of my
colleagues, who will remain anonymous, crashing a private club to get a
much-needed drink of water. American Memory Fellows have moxie!

Take it all in. There are so many valuable resources, especially people
resources. Everyone was supportive. So what if you're exhausted at the
end? It was one of the most stimulating weeks of my professional career!
