    How about school photos found in various collections? There are quite a few
    of a school (in Minnesota perhaps) with kids and teachers outside. Also
    check out the photos of Gees Bend, Alabama, in the Black and White
    Photographs from the FSA-OWI 1935-1945 America from the Great Depression to
    World War II (we collected 20 of them on this page
    http://www.urbanschool.org/library/Pages/grandparents/geesfoto.html but the
    collection has many more).
    The community is all African-American--might add some diversity photos. The
    collection includes photos of kids in school and working the land.
