Erica Joos is a passionate mission-driven practitioner with over 10 years’ experience building human and community agency through learning. Motivated by the belief that individuals can transform organizations and systems through collective action, she designs and facilitates interdisciplinary professional programs that empower agency in learners to make sustainable, meaningful, and impactful change.

As a senior training and technical assistance associate for EDC’s First 10 initiative, Joos collaborates with states and communities to implement the First 10 model to establish high-quality, cohesive educational, parenting, and community supports. Previously, she served as the arts director for an arts integration school and as the arts commissioner for the City of Boulder.

While attending Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE), Joos completed projects with UNESCO and the Harvard Kennedy School. She co-authored a chapter on multilingual learners in Advancing a New Social Contract for Education.

Joos earned an EdM on Organizational Leadership, Learning Design, and Education Policy from HGSE. She holds an MA in Educational Psychology from the University of Colorado-Denver and a BA in International Affairs from the University of Colorado-Boulder.
