Tool Kit for Early Childhood Science Education

EDC has developed the Young Scientist Series, a comprehensive curriculum designed to improve science teaching and learning for children ages 3 through 5. Each curriculum unit includes a teacher’s guide and multi-media professional development materials. The first unit, Discovering Nature with Young Children, was published by Redleaf Press in 2003; the second unit, Building Structures with Young Children, was published in 2004; and the final unit, Exploring Water with Young Children, was published in 2005. Staff also produced the book Worms, Shadows, and Whirlpools, now available from Heinemann, which presents appropriate science content for early childhood curriculum and offers stories that illustrate the content being explored in classrooms.
