The Serviece to Science Initiative provides evaluation support to local programs seeking to demonstrate and document evidence of effectiveness in preventing substance abuse and its related consequences. Sponsored by SAMHSA/CSAP and administered regionally by Centers for the Application of Prevention Technologies (CAPTs), the purpose of this initiative is to increase the pool of evidence-based substance abuse prevention interventions from which States and communities can select to implement. In the Northeast region of the United States, approximately 90 programs have participated in a variety of Service to Science activities delivered through the NECAPT.
