The Power Users of Technology Initiative was launched by EDC and the United Nations Fund for International Partnerships (UNFIP) at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City in December, 2004. The UN Summit, a venue for cross-sector, interdisciplinary dialog, provided researchers from around the world their first opportunity to contribute their own work to the growing body of research on Power Users of ICT and to join with policymakers and practitioners to articulate issues and questions to shape the design of the first International Symposium on Power Users of Technology (Costa Rica, August 2005).
