The Mathematics Leadership Program is designed to help school systems provide coordinated professional development for educational leaders with a variety of roles and responsibilities.
The program comprises three institutes, which all share the same goal-to strengthen mathematics teaching and learning by engaging in a process of inquiry into mathematics and student thinking. Each institute is tailored to the roles and responsibilities of its audience:
- Developing Mathematical Ideas Leadership (DMIL): DMIL is for teacher leaders, and others who support elementary and middle school teachers’ professional development, to work on how to facilitate DMI seminars
- Professional Development for Coaching Institute: This institute is for elementary mathematics coaches to develop coaching skills and insights
- Lenses on Learning Institute: Lenses on Learning is for school principals and other administrators to examine the administrator’s role as a leader in mathematics education
