This five-year project is designed to provide NASA with rigorous findings evaluating the extent to which its education portfolio contributes to its four key strategic goals: (1) to contribute to the development of the STEM workforce by educating and employing future scientists, (2) to attract and retain students in STEM disciplines by engaging and educating elementary and secondary students, teachers and faculty, and (3) to inspire and engage individuals of all ages in NASA’s mission. This project’s first task is to provide support for evaluating NASA’s Science, Engineering, and Mathematics Aerospace Academy (SEMAA) project. This evaluation will assess SEMAA’s effectiveness with regard to both short- and long-term outcomes of interest and determine how well NASA’s intended goals are being implemented across SEMAA project sites.
