CONNECT-ED (C-E) Project

EDC is evaluating all components of the CONNECT-ED program, which include:

  • Creating and supporting collegial cross-grade design teams to develop and present Big Idea Modules (BIMs)
  • Providing design teams with the needed science expertise, resources, and support to develop the BIMs
  • Developing a cohesive, conceptually coherent, content-rich, and pedagogically powerful set of BIMs for use in a variety of professional development settings
  • Helping teachers acquire valuable content and pedagogical knowledge in the sciences (chemistry for the C-E pilot) through professional development experiences on the design team and/or through professional development experiences at the summer institute
  • Helping teachers identify appropriate applications of BIMs (in terms of both the underlying conceptual strands and the respective activities) in their own schools and classrooms
