October 10 is World Mental Health Day

A sound mind and a sound body go hand in hand.

As we learn more about the connections between mental and physical health, a focus on behavioral health care has taken on more importance in conversations about individuals’ well-being.

Yet in the United States and around the world, individuals suffering from depression, substance abuse, or forms of trauma often do not get the help they need because of stigma or lack of access to services.

“Linking people in the highest priority communities with the care, medicine, and support they need is essential,” says EDC’s Lydia O’Donnell.

In recognition of World Mental Health Day, here are some ways that access to high-quality mental health services is being improved all along the continuum of care.
