This data brief from the STEM Learning and Research Center (STELAR) describes some of the steps being taken by the National Science Foundation’s Innovative Technology Experiences for Students and Teachers (ITEST) programs to engage underrepresented youth populations in STEM. STELAR found that most of the projects were taking active steps to broaden participation of underrepresented groups, largely through targeted recruitment, cultural competence, strategic partnerships, and active marketing.
