EDC’s Think Math! Curriculum Has a New Publisher

NEWTON, MA | April 8, 2010

Think Math!™, the newest K–5 mathematics curriculum funded by the National Science Foundation, has a new publisher. The comprehensive curriculum developed by Education Development Center, Inc. (EDC), will now be published by the Wisconsin-based School Specialty Educational Publishing Group.

Think Math!, which was originally published by Harcourt School Publishers, uses focused practice and research-based methods to provide students with a mathematics foundation while emphasizing problem solving. Think Math! also uses mathematically sound visual models to enhance comprehension for all students and to reduce barriers to students who are English language learners.

“Think Math! is a tremendously successful curriculum that has been tested extensively by teachers and students,” said EDC vice president Wayne Harvey. “The program’s alignment with national Common Core Standards in mathematics, use of ongoing assessments to measure student progress, and professional development support is particularly valuable. We believe districts and schools across the country will benefit from the service and instructional resources that School Specialty will provide, and we are excited to be working with them on this program.”

Think Math! also includes engaging puzzles and activities designed to make mathematics accessible, intellectually stimulating, and exciting for both teachers and students.
