EDC Senior Attorney Christine Filosa has received the highest award for legal professional excellence from the trade group InsideNGO, at the organization’s annual meeting in Washington, D.C.
Nominated by her EDC colleagues, Filosa was presented with the Operational Excellence Award – Legal, and her work was cited as an outstanding example of the power of high-impact operations in the NGO community. Filosa is credited with innovations in EDC’s Office of Legal Affairs, of which she is director, including implementing a matter management software product for tracking expenses and legal data and developments. In conjunction with EDC’s IT department, she led the revision and implementation of several department policies and reporting systems, resulting in improved transparency and significant cost reductions.
“Christine is an exceptional internal diplomat,” her nomination read in part. “Through much hard work and effective communication, she has been able to nourish an internal network of communicators so that when problems arise, EDC can respond quickly and effectively.”
“Christine Filosa is a dedicated, skilled professional and key member of our operations team,” said EDC President Luther Luedtke. “This award is richly deserved and doubly meaningful coming directly from her peers.”
The Operational Excellence Awards were created in 2012 to recognize and highlight the role of operations personnel—human resources, technology, finance, grants and contracts, and legal—who make significant contributions to the success of their organizations.
