The Association of Educational Publishers (AEP), the nonprofit member organization serving the educational resource industry, has announced the finalists for the 2012 Beacon Awards Program. EDC’s quarterly magazine EDC Update is nominated for the Best Newsletter category.
EDC’s entry is Open Books, the Fall 2011 issue of Update, which highlights EDC programs that are transforming how schools deal with bullying, using video to improve teaching, and creating better outcomes for students with disabilities in urban schools. The cover story, “Literacy Takes Root,” focuses on EDC’s reading and writing initiatives in resource-lean environments around the world.
EDC has won previous Beacon awards, including awards for the Fall 2009 Update issue What a Catch! the 2007 annual report Tangible Results, and the 2004 annual report Portraits of Learning in Action.
AEP Awards finalists will be honored in June at the annual Content in Context Conference in Washington, D.C. Winners of the Beacon Awards will be announced at the Beacon Luncheon, to be held on June 4.
