Education Development Center (EDC) has announced the appointment of Cheryl Hoffman-Bray as Chief Financial Officer to oversee financial management of the Newton-based international non-profit organization. She joined EDC on August 15.
With extensive experience in all aspects of financial leadership, Hoffman-Bray comes to EDC from Harvard University where she served as Dean of Finance and Chief Financial Officer for Harvard’s Faculty of Arts and Sciences. There she managed the financial affairs and budgets for over 90 departments and affiliates, capital project financing, federal and private research grants, gift and endowment income accounting, and upgrading of the financial systems.
Prior to joining Harvard, Hoffman-Bray served as the CFO for both the Beth Israel-Deaconess Medical Center and the New England Deaconess Hospital.
“As a result of EDC’s phenomenal growth in size and complexity, and as we address strategic issues ahead, we are fortunate to have attracted someone with Cheryl’s depth of experience and top flight expertise,” said Robert Rotner, Senior Vice President for Finance and Administration.
Hoffman-Bray, a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), holds her BS and MS from SUNY/Albany. She is an active member of The Boston Club and serves on several corporate boards.
Married with two children, she lives in Newton, Massachusetts.
