EDC to Co-Host Presidential Inaugural Event

Focus on technology, multi-media

NEWTON, MA | December 30, 2008

In collaboration with a variety of technology-related organizations and nonprofits, EDC will co-host a nonpartisan inaugural event on January 20, 2009, at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. Throughout the evening, a specially-created multi-media networking site (www.linklive.org) will broadcast live video from the event and from inaugural celebrations across the country.

The event, called “LINK-live” is hosted by EDC and the LINK AMERICAS Foundation, The Alliance for Public Technology, The Children’s Partnership, and the George Lucas Educational Foundation - Edutopia. All of the organizations seek to advance science, information and communications technologies (ICT) to address education and workforce development skills, e-government services, healthcare and telemedicine, and research and development of green ICT solutions for energy and environmental challenges. Additional information about the event and its sponsors can be found at www.inauguralgala2009.com.

Visitors to www.linklive.org are invited to participate in conversations using Web 2.0 digital communication tools – like Twitter, ScribbleLive, USTREAM and Flickr. To join the LINK-live network, use Twitter and the code, or hashtag, #linklive2009.

The evening’s program is designed to draw attention to technology issues as the new administration takes office. The arrangements are being handled by Kempster Group, Mobilize.org, and other organizations.
