Education Development Center, Inc. (EDC), a Boston-based international nonprofit organization, has announced the appointment of Amy Willsey as Director of New Business Development for its International Education Systems Division. Willsey will be located in EDC’s offices in Washington, D.C.
Willsey brings to EDC 15 years of experience in the development field in the areas of education, health, emergency relief, and rehabilitation. In her new role, she will be responsible for pursuing partnerships and business opportunities to expand the international portfolio of EDC, which has become one of the world’s leading health and education research organizations, with a $140 million budget and more than 300 projects in the U.S. and 35 countries.
Prior to joining EDC, Willsey served as Director of Program Development for the International Youth Foundation where she was responsible for all aspects of new business development, preparing proposals and negotiating projects worldwide focusing on education, employability, health, and citizenship, with an emphasis on youth. Willsey previously worked as Program Development Manager with World Learning and as Bureau Chief for Planning with the Adventist Development & Relief Agency.

Her management skills and her broad understanding of major sectors of development will serve EDC well,” said EDC Senior Vice President Mike Laflin, director of the organization’s International Education Systems Division.
Willsey graduated from Walla Walla College in Washington state, and holds an M.A. in international relations from Boston University. She lives in Maryland.
