Transforming Learning Through Innovation

New multimedia presentation highlights EDC’s work advancing education and technology

A new multimedia CD and Web site captures EDC’s six-year, 30-country technology initiative that expanded and deepened learning around the world. Since 2001, the program—known as dot-EDU—has worked with communities to implement a variety of information and communication technology programs. The presentation examines common themes and lessons learned, and also highlights specific technology applications and the impact they can have.

The presentation, “Transforming Learning: Experiences with Education and Technology Around the World,” was developed in EDC’s International Education Systems Division. It introduces viewers to dot-EDU’s educational innovations around the world, which are as diverse as the countries themselves—from interactive radio programming for teachers and students in Southern Sudan to online student-centered teacher training in Peru. A “bonus tracks” section includes project profiles, and a selection of educational songs and audio lessons.

With support from USAID, dot-EDU provided training and technical assistance in developing and implementing technology-assisted applications. In all, dot-EDU conducted 25 projects and18 pilot initiatives.
