EDC Joins Public Health Leaders for APHA

October 31, 2011

EDC public health specialists will make presentations regarding cyberbullying and the practice of “sexting” at the annual meeting of the American Public Health Association taking place in Washington, D.C. through November 2nd. EDC’s Shari Kessel Schneider and Robert Coulter will discuss the Massachusetts MetroWest Adolescent Health Survey, which EDC has administered since 2006 to inform planning, policy-making, health education, and prevention programming in the Massachusetts region west of Boston. Lydia O’Donnell, Senior Vice President and director of EDC’s Health and Human Development division, and EDC’s Olivia Alford contributed to the analysis of data from the survey, which included more than 11,500 middle grades students and 23,000 students in grades 9-12. The survey is funded by the MetroWest Health Foundation to monitor trends in a wide range of health behaviors.

The APHA conference features the nation’s most influential researchers, advocates, and practitioners presenting the latest public health science and trends. For more on the conference go to: http://www.apha.org/meetings/eventschedule/
