Drowning Prevention Webinar

May 15, 2012

The Children’s Safety Network at EDC is hosting a webinar on drowning prevention, May 15, 2012, beginning at 2 p.m. The hour long event will highlight a number of programs and strategies including:

  • The Consumer Product Safety Commission’s Pool Safely campaign is the education and information effort supporting the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act. Pool Safely works with its partners around the country to inform the public, including parents, caregivers, children, and the industry about drowning and entrapment prevention.
  • The National Drowning Prevention Alliance’s work to collect data on drowning and near-drowning incidents to inform planning and the implementation of prevention initiatives
  • Safe Kids Worldwide’s work to prevent drowning among children through its 600 coalitions and chapters nationwide and through its partnerships with the National Head Start Association and the fire service.
  • The Swim for Life Foundation and National Drowning Prevention Alliance’s Safer 3 Early Education Drowning Prevention Program, a 10-hour course for preschool through early grade school-aged children.
