EDC has won one grant award—and is a partner in two other awards—in the latest round of the Next Generation Learning Challenges (NGLC), which announced $7 million in funding for 19 innovative programs to help students master seventh- to ninth-grade level math and reading content.
Success at the Core, a free online professional development resource for school-based leadership teams and teachers, has won a 2011 Best Educational Software (BESSIE) Award for “Best Professional Development Website.” EDC and Vulcan Productions created Success at the Core to help leadership teams and teachers prepare all students for success.
EdTech Leaders Online (ETLO), an instructional professional development project of Education Development Center, Inc. (EDC), has won an award for innovative online learning practice. The award was presented by the International Association for K-12 Online Learning (iNACOL) at its annual meeting in Glendale, Arizona.
Teachers who took professional development courses online improved their teaching practices and subject knowledge, and produced learning gains for their students. This according to a new study released by e-Learning for Educators, a 10-state consortium funded by the U.S. Department of Education’s Ready to Teach program and led by Alabama Public Television.
As an educator and photographer, EDC’s Burt Granofsky knows what it takes to click with people. Granofsky began his career as a teacher, and now he works with teachers from around the country, facilitating online courses to improve learning.
