The Boston Schoolyard
Initiative and the Global Learning Group assessment of schoolyard impact on children's
educational outcomes.
During the Spring and
Summer of 2000, the Boston Schoolyard Initiative, in collaboration with the Global
Learning Group, undertook a survey of schoolyard programs aimed at increasing educational
opportunities for children. The survey results, along with a literature review, have been
incorporated into a research paper on the impact of school grounds on children's learning
and development. We would like to thank everyone who participated in the survey, as well
as provide interested parties with a copy of the final report. We hope this report will
illuminate research and practice in the development of schoolyards.
