The Telementoring Young Women in Science,
Engineering, and Computing project encourages young women to pursue courses and careers in science, engineering, and
computing by providing sustained support from and communication with female professionals. Using telecommunications,
the project goals are to:
Provide validation, advice, and support critical for
young women making decisions about pursuing courses and careers in science, engineering, computing, and related fields
Enable young women to work through their concerns and fears when considering
further studies in technical and scientific fields
Address the isolation young
women experience in engineering, computing, and science classrooms
Provide
opportunities for young women to discuss the content of their classes and develop strategies for dealing with difficult
subject matter and situations
Provide young women with sound career advice.
