Adulthood Projects

Student ImageA group of graduate women in mathematics share their stories about how they decided to attend graduate school, and they realize that not one faculty member came to them and said: "You're good, have you considered going to graduate school?" They came to their decisions all on their own without ever having met a woman with a Ph.D. in mathematics.

At the college level and beyond there is often little expectation or support for women pursuing degrees in mathematics, science and technology, nor is there much support for promoting gender equity in these institutions.

The following feature stories shed light on the kinds of supports and networks that are needed for continuing women's involvement in these fields and for promoting gender equity in higher education.
