In a senior year high school class, a young woman is asked if she is thinking of pursuing a career in a science or a technical field. She replies, "I'm doing OK in math, but I don't think I'm the kind of person who does well in science."
In adolescence, many young women believe that people who succeed in science, mathematics, and technology are naturally gifted or different from them and they question their own abilities to pursue careers in these fields.
The following projects demonstrate how to help young women reevaluate their attitudes about mathematics, science and technology; gain experiences in these areas; and support educators in making these subjects accessible to all.
