Hi Debbie and All:
Thanks for the connection to Lynne Cherry's books. I will check it out for
further reference.
I changed the sixth grade links to involve the extensive map collections on
line. The turning point of the story involves Brian's ability to interpret
his map and to trust the information on the map. One of my favorite parts
of last summer was our visit to the map room with all of the old and
delicate maps. I think the students will enjoy examining some of the ones
online. We'll see what the sixth grade teachers think tomorrow.
I will have an opportunity to repeat these workshops in April. My groups
are small.. 4 or 5 at each grade level with a total of only 42 teachers in
all. We have to start somewhere, however.
It feels so good to have the main portion of the work completed and the
enjoyable part of actually using it now at hand.
