This announcement is being sent to a number of lists. Apologies for any
duplicate posts.
In support of National History Day 2000, the American Memory web site
offers guidance to History Day Participants. Through the Learning Page,
students are directed to primary source materials and other documents
that support this year's theme “Turning Points in American History”.
Visitors to this site will find links to pertinent American Memory
collections such as: By Popular Demand: "Votes for Women" Suffrage
Pictures, 1850-1920, the papers of Alexander Graham Bell, Documents from
the Continental Congress and the Constitutional Convention, 1774-1789
and Selected Civil War Photographs. These resources can be found at the

The Learning Page is a web site designed to help teachers, students, and
life-long learners use the American Memory digital collections from the
Library of Congress. The site provides guidance to finding and using
items within the primary source collections found in American Memory. It
also provides Lesson Plans, thematic Features and Activities for
learner's use. The Learning Page can be found at the following url:

American Memory is a project of the National Digital Library Program of
the Library of Congress, which, in collaboration with other
institutions, is bringing important American historical materials to
citizens everywhere. Through American Memory, over seventy multimedia
collections of digitized documents, photographs, recorded sound, motion
pictures, and text are now available online, free to the public for
educational purposes. All American Memory collections can be accessed
