All,

It looks like the happy virus was unintentionally spread to members of this
listerv. It was a forgiveable mistake. Here is where you will find
information to check if you caught it, and to get rid of it if you did.

First, if you get it, it will come as an email attachment with the
filename: "happy99.exe" or "ska.exe" and potentially a few other variations.

Information is available here (and probably other places):

http://www.e-musicbox.com/happy99virus.htm
http://members.tripod.com/docsmiley/happy99.htm
http://www.pspl.com/trojan_info/win32/happy99.htm

As usual, don't open email attachments from people who you don't know or
don't trust. With this one, you will get one legitimate message from
someone followed by a second with the same subject. The second message
contains the happy.exe file as an attachment. Don't run this file.
Fireworks will display on your screen and then you will find yourself
infected.

As with any virus, if you become infected and don't know what to do next,
leave your computer on, do nothing else and contact your local automation
expert right away.

Later,

Betty
