Hello everybody.

Here's an update on new materials in the American Memory collections.

The second Ameritech Award-Winner went online: "American Landscape and
Architectural Design, 1850-1920." These materials from the Frances Loeb
Library at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design are contributed
through the Library of Congress/Ameritech National Digital Library
Competition.

Additions to the George Washington Papers Collection were recently
released. The Second Release of Series 3 and Series 5. includes
approximately 23,000 images and
texts.

The African American Odyssey collection was released (upgraded from
Preview). This is the "first release;" more is coming later. Based on the
exhibition, "The African American Odyssey: A Quest for Full Citizenship,"
the collection includes more than 240 items, including books, government
documents, manuscripts, maps, musical scores, plays, films, and recordings.
This is the first of several African American collections sponsored by a
generous gift from Citicorps that will be released in the next several years.

On Constitution Day, September 17, the second release of A Century of
Lawmaking added the full text and corresponding page images for the
Journals of the Continental Congress, Elliot’s Debates, and Farrand’s
Records. The collection to date includes a total of 49 volumes covering
the years 1774-1793. This release also adds a browse feature for the
Annals of Congress volumes that are page images without full text.
Browsing the page images can help users find vocabulary appropriate for
searching these early congressional materials.

The maps collections also just got an update. There is now a railroad map
for every state, plus some regional railroad maps. A few additional city
maps have been added and you'll find a few new military history maps.

Within the next month or so, we're planning to add the following:
"Pioneering the Upper Midwest: Books from Michigan, Minnesota, and
Wisconsin, ca. 1820-1910," plus a printed ephemera collection, some of
those fabulous drawings from the Historic American Buliding
Survey/Historial American Engineering Record (HABS/HAER), some more
baseball materials (baseball cards, I think), an update to the Buckaroo
collection, and maybe some sheet music. Some of these have previews
available now:
