3. List at least four facts which support your group’s
opinion.
4. Begin to draft your song. Make sure it clearly
expresses your views and is backed up by historical facts and evidence.
The following tips may be helpful.
Song lyrics can rhyme but it is not necessary.
To determine the rhythm of the song you may decide to use the tune and
rhythm of a song you are familiar with (i.e. Three Blind Mice) and just
rewrite the lyrics.
It might be helpful to include a chorus or refrain that contains your opinion
and is used repeatedly throughout the song.
Writing song lyrics is similar to writing a poem.
5. On a separate sheet of paper, write a draft of
your song. Make sure you include a title which reflects the theme of your
song. One member of the group should neatly prepare a final copy.
6. When the song is completed, your group will access
the American Memory collections to choose a related image that you will
include on a cover sheet for the music.
7. Be prepared to share lyrics and coversheet with
classmates.
